What’s On in July & August on the Isle of Wight

Summer on the Isle of Wight is packed with festivals, sporting events, family days out, and unique Island traditions. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or enjoying a staycation, there’s something happening almost every week. Here’s our guide to some of the biggest events taking place across the Island in July and August.

July Events

Sausage & Cider Festival – 4th July

If you love great food, live music and a relaxed festival atmosphere, the Sausage & Cider Festival is a must. Expect dozens of cider varieties, gourmet sausages, tribute acts and plenty of entertainment throughout the day and evening. It’s the perfect summer event for foodies and music lovers alike.

Isle of Wight Mardi Gras – 4th July

One of the Island’s most colourful celebrations returns to Ryde with spectacular costumes, music, dance and giant puppets filling the streets. The free family-friendly event transforms the town into a vibrant carnival inspired by folklore, myths and legends. Expect samba bands, community performances and plenty of fun for all ages.

Red Squirrel Ride – 5th July

The Red Squirrel Ride is a charity cycling event supporting the Island Animal Centre, with a choice of 16-mile and 34-mile circular routes across the Isle of Wight. Making use of largely traffic-free cycle paths and former railway trails, it’s a fantastic way to enjoy the Island’s beautiful countryside and coastline while raising money for local animals in need. Round the Island Race – 11th July

The world-famous yacht race sees hundreds of boats sail around the Isle of Wight in one of the UK’s most iconic sporting events. Spectators can enjoy fantastic views from locations including Cowes, The Needles and Culver Down as competitors take on the challenging 50-nautical-mile course.

 

Ventnor Fringe – 17th to 26th July

The Isle of Wight’s biggest arts festival transforms Ventnor into a creative playground for ten days. Visitors can enjoy comedy, theatre, cabaret, circus performances, live music and art installations in unusual venues ranging from churches and woodlands to secret coves and pop-up stages. It’s one of the Island’s cultural highlights of the year.

Festival of Heroes – 18th & 19th July

Step into a world of fantasy, sci-fi and cosplay at this hugely popular event. Meet characters from your favourite films and comics, browse themed stalls, enjoy live entertainment and immerse yourself in an unforgettable family-friendly weekend. Tickets available here.

Isle of Wight Pride – 18th July

Celebrating diversity, equality and inclusion, Isle of Wight Pride brings a colourful parade, live music, performances and community activities to Ryde. The atmosphere is welcoming, uplifting and perfect for visitors of all ages.

August Events

Chale Show – 1st & 2nd August

A true Island tradition, the Chale Show showcases the best of rural life on the Isle of Wight. Expect agricultural displays, horticultural competitions, local produce, crafts, family entertainment and plenty of opportunities to experience the Island’s farming heritage. Cowes Week – 1st to 7th August

One of the world’s most famous sailing regattas, Cowes Week attracts thousands of competitors and spectators every year. Alongside the racing, visitors can enjoy live music, waterfront entertainment, food stalls and a fantastic atmosphere throughout Cowes.

Sandown Bay Regatta – 9th August

A fantastic family day out on Sandown Esplanade, the Sandown Bay Regatta combines traditional seaside fun with modern entertainment. Visitors can enjoy beach games, live performances, family activities and a bustling market running along the seafront. Best of all, it’s free to attend and offers a wonderful way to experience the classic British seaside atmosphere.

The Royal Isle of Wight County Show – 11th August

A fantastic celebration of Island agriculture, food and rural life. The County Show offers livestock displays, equestrian events, local food producers, craft stalls, demonstrations and family attractions, making it a great day out for all ages.

Isle of Wight Garlic Festival – 15th & 16th August

One of the Island’s most popular events, the Garlic Festival celebrates all things garlic with incredible food, local produce, live music, cooking demonstrations and family entertainment. Whether you’re a garlic enthusiast or simply looking for a fun summer day out, this festival never disappoints. Buy your tickets here.

Late Summer & Bank Holiday Events

Summer Fest at Blackgang Chine – 29th July to 26th August 2026

Running throughout the summer holidays, Summer Fest at Blackgang Chine brings extra magic to the UK’s oldest amusement park. Visitors can enjoy extended entertainment, themed activities, live performances and plenty of family fun alongside all of the park’s favourite attractions. Ticket to Ryde – August Bank Holiday – 29th & 30th August

Held on Ryde’s beautiful seafront, Ticket to Ryde is a free community music and entertainment festival featuring local bands, live performances, food vendors, market stalls and family activities. Taking place alongside the International Scooter Rally weekend, it creates a lively atmosphere and is one of the highlights of the August Bank Holiday on the Island.

Isle of Wight Scooter Rally – 28th to 31st August

The Isle of Wight Scooter Rally closes out the summer in style. Thousands of scooter enthusiasts descend on Ryde for a long weekend of ride-outs, live music, custom scooter displays and seaside entertainment. It’s one of the largest scooter rallies in the UK and creates an incredible atmosphere across the town.
